Alan Bernon is Senior Advisor and President of the Affiliate Division of Dairy Farmers of America. Prior to joining DFA in 2008, Mr. Bernon was President of the Dairy Group of Dean Foods Company.
Mr. Bernon and his brother built their family business, Garelick Farms, from approximately $100 million in sales in 1985 to almost $400 million when they sold the business along with their plastics company, Franklin Plastics, to Suiza Foods (predecessor of Dean Foods Company) in 1997. The business grew organically and through the successful acquisition and integration of nine businesses. Mr. Bernon has retained his position at Garelick Farms as President from 1985 to the present.
In 1976, he received a B.B.A. degree in finance and economics from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York where he received numerous awards and honors.
Mr. Bernon serves as trustee of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the Fessenden School, Hofstra University and The Wang Center for the Performing Arts. He is also a past Board member of the Milk Industry Foundation.
